{"id":809,"date":"2020-07-16T22:57:08","date_gmt":"2020-07-16T22:57:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/goetzlab.rc.nau.edu\/?page_id=809"},"modified":"2024-11-14T19:10:54","modified_gmt":"2024-11-14T19:10:54","slug":"uavs","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/goetzlab.rc.nau.edu\/index.php\/uavs\/","title":{"rendered":"UAVs"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>UAV imagery is a natural \u201cbridge\u201d between fine scale field measurements and coarse scale (but spatially expansive) satellite remote sensing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UAVs can provide both extremely detailed 2D aerial views, with resolution down to sub-centimeter pixels, and dense 3D point cloud reconstructions that allow for insights on site structure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The GEODE lab has invested in an arsenal of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and accessories to enhance the lab\u2019s research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our fleet includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>DJI Mavic Pro 2<\/strong>: portable and nimble with 20 megapixel RGB camera, perfect for reconnaissance and taking breathtaking 1080p video<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>DJI Phantom 4 Multispectral<\/strong>: a new offering from DJI that has an integrated multispectral camera with 2 megapixel red, green, blue, red edge and near infrared (NIR) bands, all on global shutters and a stabilizing gimbal. The NIR and red edge bands are critical for vegetation mapping and having a multispectral sensor fully integrated into the drone should ease some headaches in data processing.
